Ambaji Temple :

Ambaji maa temple is a temple of the mother Goddess Amba mata. Ambaji maa temple is one of holiest and a major shakti peeth of India. It is located at a distance of approximately 65 Kms from Palanpur and 45 Kms from Mount Abu near the Gujarat and Rajasthan border. Regular bus services from parts of Gujarat to Ambaji temple is provided by Gujarat state road transport corporation The temple is attracting many pilgrims from all over the world. The temple is very famous and is of considerable importance to Hindus.

Ambaji Mata temple at Gabbar is very ancient, origin of which is lost in antiquity. It is believed that Goddess Amba was one of the deities of Pre-Aryan race, which Aryans absorbed in their pantheon. On the Gabbar Hill the footsteps of Goddess are imprinted. The imprint of Her chariot is also found here. It is believed that the tonsure ceremony of Lord Krishna also took place here. Ambaji temple has a golden yantra made jointly with the yantra of Nepal Shaktipeeth at Ujjain. There are 51 shlokas on the yantra.

The Legend of Ambaji Temple :

Legend has it that Krishna worshipped Shiva and Ambika at Ambikavana and that Rukmani worshipped Ambika here prior to her marrying Krishna. Legend also has it that the tonsure ceremony of Krishna the child was performed here at Ambaji.

Mount Abu or Arbuda is associated with Vasishta, and is believed to have bene home to his hermitage. Nandini, his cow is said to have fallen into a pit, and the river Saraswati is said to have filled the pit with water to enable the cow to come out.
